Aikido (the way of harmonious spirit) is based on ancient Japanese martial arts, both armed and unarmed. In Aikido, the opponent's attack is neutralized using round and natural movements, leveraging the opponent's own momentum. In addition to locks, throws, and pinning techniques, training includes the use of a wooden sword, staff, and knife. Due to the peaceful nature of the art, there is no competition in Aikido; instead, practitioners meet at Aikido camps, where they receive deeper instruction and technical development.
"In Aikido, there is no winner or loser, because defeat always gives rise to a new struggle."
– Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969)

In Aikido, emphasis is placed on the relaxation of technique, timing, and control of distances. One of the principles of the art is that one aims to handle situations without permanently harming the opponent. Now, instead of relying on the use of force and muscular strengt, the art finds power in fluid movement and good technical execution.
Aikido allows for a wide variety of training, from slow and careful technical practice to very dynamic and physically demanding training. Each person can train according to their fitness and skill level.
The development of Aikido techniques has been greatly influenced by Japanese sword techniques. In addition to body techniques, Aikido training includes the use of the bokken (wooden sword), jo (wooden staff), and tantō (training knife).

The basic courses for the spring of 2026 are starting on February 16th and April 20th!
