Junior info

We have an active group of juniors in the Kuopio Aikido Club. There are approximately 25 active practitioners aged 7 to 13.

The juniors learn the same things in aikido as adults, but alongside various games and playful activities.

Juniors will familiarize themselves with many fundamental concepts during the beginners' course, such as: leg movement, pinning techniques, break falls, balance, and social interaction. Etiquette in the dojo becomes familiar, as does training with everyone.

Aikido is a versatile sport that develops coordination, movement perception, muscle strength, and many other skills. And that which is most important; juniors will always have fun !

Registration

You can sign up for junior exercises via email. Please inform us in advance of your arrival so that we can come to guide you to the right place.

Arrival

We practice at Savilahti Luola. You can get there by bike, public transport, or car (there are free 2-hour parking spots behind the Cave, and 30m parking spots in front).

Clothing

To start, comfortable clothes like a t-shirt and sweatpants are sufficient for training. Old karate uniforms are also acceptable. Later, you can buy your own training outfit.

Hygiene and safety

Feet are washed before training, and you go onto the mat either with training shoes or clean socks. Please remove all jewelry and wristwatches before training. The phone must be muted.

Free insurance

The Finnsh Aikido Federation offers all beginners a free sports insurance, which is valid for 3 months from the starting date. We will provide more information about the free introductory license and the insurance during training sessions.

Let's go together.

The first practices can sometimes be a bit thrilling. Parents can also participate in junior practices, and their presence can provide a safer feeling for the starting junior.

The club also encourages guardians to participate in training. Let's move together.
