In Aikido practice, various body techniques and mobility exercises are performed. The common goal is to improve overall fitness. The minimum age for adults is 14 years and children aged 7-13 strat as juniors.
We accept new trainees in a centralized manner during the basic training periods organized four times a year. During these basic training periods, we focus more closely on the fundamentals and emphasize safe falling practice.
It is possible to join the us outside of the basic training periods as well. Please let us know in advance if you wish to come and observe or try out via email.
Adults train every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Juniors train on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
You can register for the basic course by email. Please notify us in advance of your arrival so that we can guide you to the right place.
We practice at Savilahti Luola. You can get there by bike, public transport, or car (there are free 2-hour parking spots behind the Cave).
To start, comfortable clothes like a t-shirt and sweatpants are enough for training. Old martial arts uniforms also work. Later, you can buy your own training outfit.
Feet are washed before training, and we enter the mat either in training shoes or clean socks. Please remove all jewelry and wristwatches before training. You can also protect piercings/earrings with, for example, skin tape during training.
The Finnish Aikido Federation offers all beginners free sports insurance, which is valid for 3 months from the starting date. We will provide more information about the free introductory license and insurance during training sessions.
Both beginners and experienced people train together from the very start. You can get yourself a "support buddy" who is a more experienced trainer. They will train with you during your first sessions and provide more individualized guidance.
